We Are Committed to Listening

Age-Friendly Columbus continues to listen to older residents in neighborhoods across the city.

In addition to the nearly 1,000 surveys we have received, Age-Friendly Columbus continues to listen to older residents in neighborhoods across the city. From focus groups to walk audits, we are committed to listening and learning.

Thank you to everyone for their time and effort in this important collaborative initiative!

We are also sharing our message with organizations, businesses, and interested parties. We have presented to audiences of professionals and older adults, national conferences, regional workgroups, and more.

If your organization is interested in learning more about the Age-Friendly Columbus movement or to schedule a presentation from our speakers bureau starting in 2017, please contact Katie White at: [email protected]

Working Together

Ohio has a new voice for older adults – the Ohio Aging Advocacy Coalition.

Ohio has a new voice for older adults – the Ohio Aging Advocacy Coalition. The Ohio Aging Advocacy Coalition aims to advocate, support, and share the stories of older Ohioans who believe in, and want to see, a future where the voices of older adults are heard, well-represented, and respected.

“The goal of the Coalition is to identify serious issues and help propose and support cost effective solutions to avoid a financial and health care crisis,” said Barbara Riley, former Director of the Ohio Department of Aging. “It is essential that policies that address the needs of older Ohioans are focused on  ensuring a high quality of life for all of us as we grow into our future together.”

The development of these policies cannot be made without the input of older Ohioans and caregivers. The Coalition aims to share your stories with Ohio’s policymakers, as well as to educate our voting public about these ongoing needs.  Do you have a story to share?

Share it today at: http://go.advocatesforohio.org/signup_page/ohioagingadvocacycoalition

On Friday December 9th, the Center for Community Solutions will join with the Age-Friendly Columbus Advisory Council, Subcommittees, 50+ Resident Council, and Columbus residents to share the results from our survey. The results will be discussed and then written into a findings report, which will be released in January of 2017.
